Have you ever wondered where the wheat was grown that makes the flour for the bread we eat?
The flour in all of our regular and specialty bagels is milled from wheat grown in the Pacific
Northwest. The flour we are using is from SHEPHERD'S GRAIN, an alliance of progressive Northwest
farmers who use sustainable farming practices such as no tilling and direct seeding; these
farmers serve as excellent stewards of the environment. What's more, we not only know that the
flour is locally sourced, we also know which farmer produced the wheat for each bag of flour. To
this extent, we will now post weekly in our store the name of a featured farmer as part of our
Farmer-of-the-Week program. (Link to Shepherd's Grain - www.shepherdsgrain.com)
We know that some of the reasons that you like Bagel Brothers bagels are the quality & taste, the
fact we use scratch recipes & no preservatives, and that we are locally owned. You can now add to
that list, LOCAL SOURCING. While we've always prided ourselves on using the finest ingredients,
we feel that knowing that the wheat is locally grown makes the products we produce that much
better.
